City officials recently said that primary construction on the East Coastal Road, billed as the island's second ring road, is now complete. Workers are putting final touches on the new roadway.
The ten-lane expressway runs from Tong'an Bay Bridge in the north to Dadeng Bridge in the south. The 17-kilometer road boasts a width of 60 meters and a top designated speed of 80 kilometers per hour. The 2.2-billion-yuan project “will shorten the running distance from Tong'an to Dadeng and reduce driving pressure in this district,” said East Coastal Road project manager Wei Junping.
