The Xiamen Newspaper Media Group is now accepting submissions for the annual World Minnan Golden Melody Awards, which celebrates songs performed in the Minnan dialect. The competition includes a dozen geographical categories, honoring songs submitted from places such as Quanzhou, Xiamen and Zhangzhou as well as Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan. Other groupings include Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore and the U.S. Last year more than 6,000 people participated in the event.
