The Xiamen University Xiangan Pediatric Hospital (Affiliated to Fudan University) recently received preliminary working plans from the city's Development and Reform Commission. The plans include a national-level children's medical center that integrates medical treatment, R&D, teaching and more at a new facility in Xiangan New Town.

　　The north side of the center will be adjacent to Xiangan West road, and its south side will flank the Vertical Fourth road. The total investment is expected to reach about one billion yuan (excluding medical equipment and start-up fees). The plans call for an initial 500 beds to be supplemented by a further 300 beds in the future.
