WHO announced containment of SARS outbreak in 2003

　　The World Health Organization announced on this day in 2003 the containment of the global SARS outbreak. Researchers discovered Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome in Asia in February of the same year. The outbreak lasted approximately six months as the disease spread to more than two dozen countries in the Americas, Asia and Europe.
